Linn County, Iowa Receives Grant Funding from the American Planning Association to Combat Chronic Disease
APA-Iowa Chapter is pleased to announce that a project we are a partner of, Planning Healthy Iowa Communities, has received a $130,000 grant from the American Planning Association to address two determinants of chronic disease – lack of physical activity and lack of access to nutritious food – in Linn County. Partnering organizations on this project include Linn County Public Health, Iowa Public Health Association, Cedar Rapids Blue Zones Project, Marion Blue Zones Project, Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, the City of Cedar Rapids, the City of Marion, Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization, Linn County Food Systems Council, and the Active Living Coalition.
