2013 APA Iowa Annual Conference
Call for Session Proposals
The Iowa Chapter of the American Planning Association announces its call for session proposals for the 2013 APA Iowa Annual Conference. The conference theme is From Disaster to Discovery and is being held October 16 – 18, 2013 at the newly renovated Convention and Events Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with lodging at the adjoining Double Tree Inn by Hilton. The conference location in Cedar Rapids, within the Cedar Rapids – Iowa City corridor, will allow presenters to highlight the sometimes agonizing, but ultimately rewarding, journey in rebuilding a “safer, smarter, stronger” Iowa in the aftermath of the 2008 natural disasters. We are planning three conference tracks based on these general topics: 1) planning with a regional perspective; 2) disaster recovery and smart plans; and 3) economic development and redevelopment. Other ideas and session formats are also welcome to be proposed; mobile workshops should showcase redevelopment projects locally and within the corridor.
